Come be transported into the Grisha world! Siege and Storm continues the adventures of Alina and Mal as they are on the run from the Darkling. In this class we will read through Siege and Storm, the second book in the Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. Students will need to have previously read Shadow and Bone (Book 1) before enrolling in this class. This class is open to students who are reading the series for the first time and students who may have read the book previously, but would like to re-read it in a book club setting. Students will complete the reading ahead of time and then we will meet together to discuss the book. Through our class discussions we will work on: -comprehension skills -analyzing the characters and their actions -making connections -discussing the author's purpose for including different events and characters in the book -comparing and contrasting different characters and events The teacher will use discussion questions to guide student conversations and discussions. Students are encouraged to jot down any questions or thoughts they have while reading to share with the class. Students will be encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings from the readings each session. We will meet twice a week for three weeks and follow the schedule below for reading the book. Class 1: Before- Chapter 4 Class 2: Chapters 5- 8 Class 3: Chapters 9- 12 Class 4: Chapters 13- 16 Class 5: Chapters 17-19 Class 6: Chapters 20- After Please have the first 4 chapters read before the first class.
Learning Goals
Students will work on comprehension, analyzing the characters and their actions, making connections, discussing the author's purpose for including different events and characters in the book, and comparing and contrasting different characters and events.

This book series does contain violence and mild sexual innuendo. If you are unsure if the content of the book will be suitable for your child please read the book yourself before enrolling your child in this class.
