In this on-going course, each week students will learn about a new fundamental of photography in a short lecture by the teacher, review slides of images that incorporate this technique, be given a challenge to complete during the week using this new skill, and evaluate/critique any images students have shared during the week. Weekly topics may include any of the following: Rule of Thirds Foreground Framing Leading Lines Depth of Field Bokeh Negative Space Symmetry Framing Shutter Speed White Balance Juxtaposition Patterns & Textures Rule of Odds Simplicity Perspective Color Light & Shadows Rule of Space Balancing Elements & More No previous photography knowledge is required. Students will need a camera. While a camera capable of manually changing the settings is preferred, most assignments can be completed with any camera, including phone cameras. If there is a situation where a student's camera is not physically capable of the assignment, a modified or alternate assignment can be given upon request.

I am a professional photographer with 17 years of experience who loves photographing portraits and events as well as teaching others to capture images of the world around them! I have an Associates of Science in Business Marketing and certification in photography. I have used these skills to create a successful business and have worked with clients around the world. I believe that photographs are an amazing way to see the world through the eyes of another and photography is a way to allow others to see the world through yours. I am excited to reach more students who are interested in learning how to take better photos and how images make a lasting impact in our world.
