What's included
1 live meeting
2 in-class hoursHomework
1 hour per week. On the bulletin board, I will post exercises that students can complete on their own after a session is complete. If a student posts their answers in the comment section of my post, I will come back and post correct answers with explanations. That way, we can keep the ball rolling after our initial class.Class Experience
US Grade 7 - 8
Intermediate Level
In this class, we will consider in-depth the admissions test for the specialized high schools of New York City. Because this is a small group class, we will be able to tailor the experience to the needs of our students. If a student needs to work on mastering standardized test taking, this is what we will focus on for an amount of time dependent on the number of students who enroll. If a student most needs to work on reading comprehension, we can dedicate our efforts to strengthening that particular skill as a team. If a student needs help with math, this can be a guiding objective as we construct a student-centered, team-based experience.
Learning Goals
Timed practice with questions very similar to what is on the actual SHSAT
Focused explanations on a specific math or language topic that needs strengthening
Other Details

I have plenty of material of a wide variety to carry the class. Our student really only needs to bring themselves to the meeting. That said, any materials that our student would like to bring to class and consult with is welcome. I like test prep manuals of every stripe. I collect them, and I am always interested in finding out about new ones.
