I will be assigning test-appropriate homework that will reinforce the material we covered during the session. I have a wealth of material in my files that I can assign for homework, and I have a sharp instinct for what to "prescribe" at the end of the class. I am good at assigning the right amount of the right kind of homework.Assessment

US Grade 5 - 8
In this class, we will consider in-depth the admissions test for the specialized high schools of New York City. Because this is a small group class, we will be able to tailor the experience to the needs of our students. If a student needs to work on mastering standardized test taking, this is what we will focus on for an amount of time dependent on the number of students who enroll. If a student most needs to work on reading comprehension, we can dedicate our efforts to strengthening that particular skill as a team. If a student needs help with math, this can be a guiding objective as we construct a student-centered, team-based experience.
Learning Goals
Our students will log lots of time with a variety of practice questions that closely resemble those questions they will encounter on the actual SHSAT. The goal here is to instill familiarity and gather confidence in the face of this challenge.

I have plenty of material of a wide variety to carry the class. Our student really only needs to bring themselves to the meeting. That said, any materials that our student would like to bring to class and consult with is welcome. I like test prep manuals of every stripe. I collect them, and I am always interested in finding out about new ones.
