US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
In this ongoing class, learners will participate in a fun, history-themed scavenger hunt activity. Sondra will tell a story each week from mythology, history, or ancient literature and students will find items that go along with the story - and share their find with the rest of the class. Learners will practice critical-thinking skills, communication skills, and social skills in this play-based historical learning activity. Sondra even mixes in (optional, but fun) advanced skills like ancient language, writing in hieroglyphics and ancient scripts, and archaeological techniques for your curious learner. Class size is kept small so that learners have more time to participate during class. All questions and comments are welcome. Each week we will discuss stories from folklore, mythology, history, and archaeology Students will help guide each week's topics with their own interests and requests. Classes are taught with lots of visuals in a highly interactive style; comments and questions are welcome! Enjoy story time! Join any time. Participation in the prior week's story time is not required to enjoy the upcoming class. You may cancel this subscription at any point.
Learning Goals
Students will learn new facts about history and myth as they relate the historical stories they hear to objects which they can use for further learning and play. Using knowledge is the best way to keep knowledge.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I’m Sondra Rapoport, your friendly neighborhood Roman Historian. I taught with Harvard University's Dept of Classics for 6 years as a Head Teaching Fellow. I taught classes on The Rome of Augustus and Roman Games and won awards for distinction in teaching each semester I taught with Harvard. I also taught History of Ancient Egypt at Tufts University and worked for years on the Giza Project. This project catalogues, translates, and researches the 150 years of archaeological discovery around the Great Pyramids. Now, I homeschool my son and I greatly enjoy adapting my knowledge and classes designed for university level to each of his grade levels.
