Description

Class Experience

Students will identify coins, learn each coin's value, and apply the knowledge to count coins.
I was a 1st and 2nd grade math teacher for over 13 years. During that time, I consistently taught units on counting money to my students. I found that the money units were some of the most fun units to teach because the students were so excited about the topic...everyone loves money! I have used lots of various strategies to help students master this topic.
Students need some real coins to use during class. Include 5-10 of each coin - quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
