Personal finance is a must-have for all children in order for them to be successful as adults. In addition to basic money management essentials, students will also learn how to manage the risks and distractions this world will throw at their plans. The culminating project will be a real-life budgeting scenario-Planning a Trip With a Budget, which the students will find out whether or not they will make it in the real world with the scenario they are given and with the tools they have learned! Week 1: Reading and analyzing utility bills and statements Week 2: Money and Inflation Week 3: Making sense of percentages and calculating compound interest scenarios Week 4: Calculating salaries and salaries mini-project Week 5: Asset allocation and diversification-bonds, stocks, mutual funds, IRAs, and more! Week 6: What is insurance and what kind(s) should you have? Week 7: The Ultimate Planning a Trip Challenge Project-Can you do it without going over budget? Week 8: Share results of the Ultimate Planning a Trip Challenge and wrap-up with Kahoot quiz *Note that there is a Part A of this class, but they can be taken in any order!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of personal finance and how it directly relates to them now or in the future and apply that knowledge.

Supply List
A notebook, writing utensil, and calculator are required for this class. Any handout or worksheet will be provided for the students before each class in the classroom. Kahoot will be used as a review game tool.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
