Class experience
This flex class includes weekly recorded sessions (Youtube), Nearpod exercises, and PDF handouts. Earning income is one of the best ways for children to learn the joys of having their own money - to save, spend, and make plans. Following our friend Amari, who helps in the family business and just got a paper route, learners will go through guided exercises and activities about key financial literacy topics such as the value of money, saving and investing, and money management. As a Canadian CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional, "Mrs. Alyx" (Alexandra (Alyx) Valdal) is passionate about financial literacy for the next generation! Teaching kids about money is so important for establishing good habits and understanding that money is just a tool to be used. Mrs. Alyx has lived and taught different subjects in Canada, England, and Japan. She has taught learners from age 2 to 72 from preschool to college courses and loves engaging with excited students. In her Outschool classes, Mrs. Alyx helps learners reflect on their own money values through talking about needs and wants and how money can work in our lives, now and in the future.
Homework Offered
Learners will complete assignments on their own and share their progress/input to the class page, do interactive assignments in Nearpod, and send messages directly to the teacher. Learners receive a PDF workbook for their use, with examples and highlights of the class. An estimated 30 minutes of lesson and resource videos, activities, and assignments are expected.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

Learners should be able to create a simple budget, at the end of this class, if they have completed all videos and assignments.Grades Offered

This class uses self-directed Nearpod use (Nearpod.com) and Youtube videos shared via the Outschool classroom. No accounts are required, for either resource.
