Class Experience

In this class, we will explore exciting writing prompts inspired by your favorite items. Get ready to share, create, and bring your imagination to life through the magic of writing!

Each week, students will bring one item for show and tell. The item must:
*be small enough the student can hold it to share on the screen
*not give away any personal information such as last name or address
*be inanimate (no living things allowed)

In this class, students will:
*be given an opportunity to share their item
*write based on a given writing prompt involving involving their show and tell items
*have the opportunity to share their story if they choose

Teacher guidance will be provided as needed. Students will begin the story in class. However, depending on how much your student wants to write, it may or may not be finished during this block of time, and can be completed at home for homework.

These classes do not build on each other, and you are welcome to attend as you like. The first four prompts are as follows:

*Week of February 12 - Imagine your show and tell item comes to life. Write a story about the magical adventures it would have. Where would it go and what exciting things would it do?

*Week of February 19 - Describe a typical day in the life of your show and tell item. What does it like to do? Who are its friends? Share the details of its daily routine.

*Week of February 26 - Create a story about how your show and tell item came to be in your possession. Where did you find it, and why is it so special to you?

*Week of March 4 - Invent superpowers for your show and tell item. How would you use these powers for good? Describe the heroic deeds it would accomplish.
