Description
Class Experience
No previous experience is needed in this one-time class in which learners will use their special objects to co-create a fun and colourful song. We will start by introducing ourselves and our objects and then talk about the music or songs we like (with optional live performance). These will become our musical templates. Students will use questions in order to find out about each others’ special objects as we construct a word bank to sing with. Exploring the difference between ‘describing’...
Students will learn the process of creating a song based on something which inspires them (special object). Along the way, they will learn how to question, think critically and make choices to collectively and creatively shape the outcome. I hope students will come away from the class feeling energised and confident to create their own simple songs.
I am a qualified Early Childhood Teacher with 10 years of experience teaching a broad range of educational needs.

Songsmiths will need to bring along a special object of their choice and submit a photo of the object before class, along with any known information e.g. name, superpowers, etc.
This is fun and relaxed class intended to nurture creativity and confidence. Informal assessment/feedback will be given for each learner after each class.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Initial support is required getting your learner logged on and setup but thereafter parents/carers should have free time.
