Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In today's class we will be reviewing the short and long vowel sounds; we were also review CVC words usually have short vowel sounds and CVCe words usually have a long and silent vowel sounds. In the class students will receive some lecture style instruction; they will also have opportunity to interact with their classmates and teacher. We will start the class with "Show and Tell"; students should bring five items with them to class to illustrate the five different short vowel sounds (i.e. hat, jet ). We will also do some moving around when we hear the correct vowel sounds, use hand movements, and play games.
Students will benefit from having been introduced to the short and long vowel sounds in the past.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
