In this 5 session creative writing course, students will create a character, setting, and plot to help them successfully draft an engaging short story. The final class will include revising and editing the draft.
Class experience
Students will recognize elements of a short story as they come up with ideas and write an original story. I will use slides with information, teacher modeling, and learner interaction each day to increase learner engagement. Meeting one: The following short story elements will be reviewed/introduced using a familiar children's story: character, setting, conflict and plot structure. Writing paper and pen/pencil
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will have the opportunity to share their writing and story ideas with one another throughout the different stages of the writing process.
