Class Experience
Students will have the opportunity to work with a professional actor and drama teacher, learning the important techniques involved in monologue/scene work and acting. Class will consist of drama games and warm ups to get our energy flowing, followed by an exploration of a specific monologue or scene - which students can either bring or be assigned. Students also have the option to gain audition prep skills. Together, we will talk about elements of acting such as character development, facial expressions, physical theatre, tactics, motivations, and context. No acting experience is necessary, though some experience would be helpful. It is recommended that students be at or above their grade's reading level, to avoid frustration when reading scripts. If this is not the case, feel free to reach out and I can make sure I find a suitable scene or monologue prior to our time together. By the end of this class, students will feel more confident tackling scenes, acting, and preparing for auditions in the future. I believe in facilitating a fun, inclusive, and informative learning environment, in which I prioritize differentiated instruction - tailoring my lessons to the needs of each individual learner!
Learning Goals
Students will gain skills and confidence in acting by analyzing and performing monologues!
