Shiloh Season: Read Aloud and Book Club (Book #2 in Shiloh Series)
What's included
10 live meetings
5 in-class hoursClass Experience
Sharing a story together is the most wonderful experience. In this class, we will meet three times a week (for three weeks) to read aloud and discuss Phyllis Reynolds Naylor's novel Shiloh Season. In Shiloh Season, Shiloh finally belongs to Marty, but the dog's original owner, Judd Travers, has started drinking again--and for Judd Travers, beer and a gun are a dangerous combination. Marty's family seems to be the target of Judd's rage. Each class, I will read aloud and invite the students to read aloud if they wish. Reading aloud is optional. Some students may choose to listen only. It will be their choice. We will pause frequently to discuss the story as it develops. Discussion will include but not be limited to prediction, vocabulary acquisition, story elements, plot development, character analysis, inferring, figurative language (similes), text-to-self and text-to-world connections.
