Childhood can be quite an anxious stage of life. Kids are constantly learning new skills and facing challenges, wrangling fears, and navigating a world that doesn’t always make sense to them yet. To top it off, kids too often feel like they're the only ones feeling this way and can be internally embarrassed. Equipping them with skills that are easy to use, and that can be done in any environment, gives them power over their worry. In this one-time class, learners will be taught and practice four discrete, anxiety-reducing strategies to relax the triggered, "emotional brain", and support them in returning to their "thinking brain." Learners will also learn variations of three of the skills. I will provide hand-outs for students to help them remember how to utilize and practice these skills on their own after they complete the class. The more practiced the brain is in these strategies, the easier it will be to use them when needed! Skills that will be taught: Infinity Signs Butterfly Hugs Cookie Breathing, also paired with muscle relaxation Five Senses Mindfulness
