Class Experience

Join this on-going class where students, who have already been introduced to the concept of multiplication, can practice their multiplication facts in the context of games. Math games provide an engaging way to practice math facts, build number sense, and motivate students to increase their speed. Before playing, each class will begin learning a model of multiplication to build students understanding of multiplication. The majority of the class time will be spent playing a game, where different strategies will be taught to find the product. Each class will focus on one set of multiplication facts (2s - 10s).

Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Messiah College
I have 22 years of teaching experience in a variety of educational settings including as a public high school math teacher, math tutor, and enrichment class teacher. I am currently a home educator of my five children in addition to teaching on Outschool for the past 4 years. Due to this diverse background, I have taught a wide range of math skills, from preschool math concepts through AP Calculus. I have a broad understanding of the development of math skills.

My passion is to strengthen students' number sense so that they are comfortable working with numbers, not simply rote memorization, and can extend that knowledge to a variety of real-life applications. I love to incorporate games, visuals, and hands-on activities in my classroom. A principal I strongly believe in is "All the students should do all the work all the time." Children learn best when they are doing!

When I am not teaching, I love to enjoy the outdoors, running, camping, and playing pickleball with my family.

I hope to see you in my classroom!
