Class experience
In this beginner class about sharks (elasmobranchs), we will learn all about the adaptations and biological features of different species of these cartilaginous fish! Sharks are by far the most misunderstood animal in the ocean. They are know for their large teeth and offensive movements underwater. However, almost all shark species pose no threat to humans, whatsoever! In class, learners will have the opportunity to dive into the science of elasmobranch biology and how sharks and rays live...
I have over 5 years of research experience with sharks and rays (elasmobranchs), including tagging cruises and surveys. My research focuses on photo identification, population monitoring, digital tagging, and food habits. I have a degree in Environmental Science with a focus in Marine Science and Biology. I also have over 5 years of experience teaching this information in an environmental education setting.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
