This fun activity and read-aloud will explore rhyming words, specifically the “at” family, as we draw and color a cat using basic shapes.
Class experience
We will begin with introductions which will be followed by a short game with rhyming words. Then the students will follow along, as the teacher models and draws a cat using shapes. Once the outline is drawn, the students will color or paint their cat as they like. The teacher will read a rhyming story while the students color or paint their picture. white paper, pencil, eraser, crayons, markers, colored pencils - paint, paintbrush, & a cup of water (if painting) - students can choose how to color their picture Note: If you have a cat (live or stuffed) you can show your cat at the beginning of class during introductions. I like cats but I don't have a real one.
