Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this course, I will use self-created and online curricula along with teacher and student led discussions to teach basic and intermediate geometry topics. Topics include, but are not limited to; lines, angles, shapes (2D and 3D), coordinate grids, etc. We will also utilize online graphing paper/tools to create specific geometric figures. For example, we may use graph paper to plot points in order create shapes or pictures. I will also discuss degrees and angles in shapes like circles and triangles. Geometric vocabulary and terms will be covered as well. Note-taking is highly encouraged, but not required. A basic knowledge of 2D shapes is helpful, but not required. This is a small group class, but I am happy to teach it as a 1:1 private tutoring session as well. If you prefer 1:1, check out my other listings and book a private tutoring session.
Learning Goals
Beginner to intermediate geometry concepts will be taught with grade levels 3rd through 5th in mind. Some topics may expand to higher levels depending on how quickly students grasp concepts.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Westminster College
I graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and have been a teacher for 25 years. I have taught in the classroom of brick and mortar schools and have most recently been teaching online. The students I have taught vary in age from PreK to 8th, and I spent 6 consecutive years teaching 5th graders. My students have ranged in ability levels and have spanned the globe reaching 4 different continents. I am also certified and experienced teaching students that have English as their second or other language. I love the challenges and rewards that come with educating kids around the world.
