Description
Class Experience
Students will learn tools for understanding and exploring Shakespeare's plays through a close examination of specific characters and lines.
I have enjoyed teaching Shakespeare classes for this age group for over 20 years. The stories, language and characters are fascinating to people of ALL ages, and it is my experience that this particular age group dives in, unafraid, to the heightened language, emotions and scenarios in Shakespeare's plays. I have directed students in abridged versions of the following Shakespeare plays: Macbeth, Twelfth Night, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, and Midsummer Night's Dream. As an actor, I have enjoyed playing characters in Midsummer Night's Dream, Othello, Julius Caesar and King Lear.
Instructor will provide a list of resources appropriate for this age group for those who would like to continue to explore Shakespeare's plays.
Paper and pencils, markers or crayons for drawing.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The instructor will choose lines from the play that are appropriate for this age group.
