Description
Class Experience
In this theater summer camp, students will take a close look at the work of Shakespeare. We decipher the way he used language to make it understandable for students. Students will work on specific sections of Shakespeare's plays to decode what these famous phrases mean. We will also look at why Shakespeare is so important in literature and to our society now. Students will watch clips from Shakespeare plays performed at the Globe Theater in London. We will choose between three different plays...
Students will learn who Shakespeare was and how to read and perform in his dialect. Students will be able to confidently read and perform a Shakespeare play.
Students will research their assigned character and will need to practice their part outside of class time. This will take roughly one to two hours a week.
The script for the selected play will be provided via a link within the classroom. It does not need to be printed but it us helpful.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress is assessed thru their ability to read the plays and perform their part.
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
