It can be difficult for many students to develop the "ear" for Shakespeare, to develop an approach that will allow them to both comprehend and appreciate the artistry of Shakespeare's work. Students will learn about the syntax, rhythm, meter, vocabulary, allusion, and literary devices contained within Shakespeare's works.
I have nearly 20 years of experience as a high school English teacher. My classes have studied various Shakespeare works including Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, The Tempest, Julius Caesar, and his sonnets.

Shakespeare on occasion uses puns or indirect reference to sexuality, so there will be some discussion around these usages. In addition, Shakespeare's work often includes adult themes such as murder, treason, adultery, death, and deception.
