Description
Class Experience
Students will be able to understand the language used in Hamlet, read Shakespeare confidently, and analyze the themes, plots, and characters of this play.
I have taught theatre for several years, and have acted in Shakespeare productions.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be informally assessed through their reading fluency and answers to questions posed in class.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Hamlet includes antiquated ideas of honor, scenes of violence, suggestive language, religious references, suicide, and minor profanity. We will be discussing these themes in historical contexts, as well as feminism and LGBTQ+ themes theorized to be in this play.
Students should have a copy of Hamlet, or use litcharts.com to read through the play I do not require students to take notes, but I highly recommend it. If you choose to take notes, it may be in any format you like, digital or physical.
