Class Experience
In this course, we just learn to interpret, analyze, and perform the works of William Shakespeare. We will be critical thinkers and close readers. We will examine the conventions of tragedies, comedies, histories, romances, and problem plays. Literary criticism and literary theory will complement our readings. Studying William Shakespeare’s writing is a journey of discovery. This course is designed to start students on that journey as they discover the power of Shakespeare’s language as well as his uncanny and modern insight into human nature. Students will read, discuss, and write about Shakespeare’s plays in homework activities. This class will be very interactive - students are encouraged to provide their own thoughts, opinions, and analysis on selected plays and texts. We will cover and analyze plays such as: - Hamlet - Romeo & Juliet - A Midsummer Night’s Dream - The Taming of the Shrew - Macbeth - Much Ado about Nothing - And more!!
