Whether you are a mindfulness pro or just learning about it, this class will teach you how to create a simple but highly effective tool for promoting calm and well-being, even in challenging times. We will begin by discussing what mindfulness is all about, sharing ideas, questions, goals and more. We will talk about a few simple techniques like conscious breathing, stretching, even coloring. Learners will think about ways they can use mindfulness in their lives to help cope with challenging feelings like anger, frustration and anxiety. The second part of the class is a creative, hands-on activity where students can create their own glitter jar. While we make our jars, we will learn about how to use this tool when we are struggling with strong emotions. As an experience teacher with specific training in Social Emotional Learning, I will ensure that students feel comfortable and supported as they share and craft together!

Teacher expertise and credentials
New Jersey Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi Friends! I can't wait to learn with you in Outschool. I love being a teacher because I love learning, and kids are always teaching me new things. I also love helping kids meet their goals and reach for their dreams. Since graduating from Princeton University for my B.A. and Columbia University's Teachers College for my Masters, I have taught in both public and private schools. I have been teaching for over ten years, and tutoring for over 20 years! Here we will get to learn about everything from Fantasy literature and Social Action to Gardening, Crafting and DIY Skincare!
I believe that all children want to and can learn. I also believe that by guiding children to learn about things that interest them, we can help them create a better world for us all. My teaching style is hands-on and full of humor. I believe in inquiry-based, child-centered learning that is engaging and fun.
Lastly, I believe in the power of root beer floats, the importance of friendship and the need for children today to get back to nature!
