Let's draw Nemo! Are you an ocean animal lover? Do you love bringing life and color to your artwork? In this step-by-step class we will draw and color a clownfish pair. By using different colors we will bring these fish to life on our canvas. In this class you will learn how to use acrylic markers (Uni Posca Markers) to draw. In recent years I have developed a great passion for these acrylic paint pens. They are so versatile and colorful. I'm so excited to share with you some of the many techniques I have learned. Together we will create a beautiful Posca Marker drawing! Colorful Fun: We will be coloring using Uni Posca Markers. I especially enjoy using these paint pens because they are great for shading and bringing vibrant colors to drawings. Even though I will be using Posca Markers if you have another brand that is fine. Reference Pictures: I have attached four reference pictures of clownfish to help you when sketching them. I have also attached a reference scan of my clownfish initial sketch.
Learning Goals
Draw along with me as I first sketch and then color these clownfish. I have attached four reference pictures of these beautiful fish to help you when sketching them.My ultimate goal is to inspire my students creativity. At the end of each class my hope is that my students self confidence is boosted, they feel inspired to be creative and they feel proud of what they have drawn.Syllabus

Supply List
Materials: Black illustration board or other dark surface. I have had students draw on jewelry boxes and other dark surfaces. White Colored Pencil (or other light color for the initial sketch). I will be using Extra Fine Point (PC-1MC - 0.7 mm) Posca paint markers. Here is a list of the marker colors I will use: Black, Orange, Light Blue, Red, Violet, White, Blue and Yellow.

I’m a fine artist working out of my home studio in South Carolina. I have been a fine artist since 2013 and an art teacher since 2021.
I specialize in watercolors, colored pencils, alcohol and Posca acrylic markers as well as
acrylic paints. I greatly enjoy painting and drawing realistic animals, landscapes and
cityscapes. I also make pet portraits in my own artistic style. I love drawing all kinds of wildlife such as cats, dogs, lions, whales, dolphins and more in their natural habitats. Everyday I discover new animals to draw and paint and I love sharing these with my students.
I love teaching and sharing what I have learned with others about drawing, painting, sketching and animal anatomy.
In 2023 I started teaching art classes on Outschool to children and teens. Teaching has helped me learn how to explain art concepts to my students as well as improve my own art skills.
I enjoy using vibrant, rich colors that may not be natural to the
subject, but give it an interesting and striking appearance. I like to
highlight the main subject with light and shadow giving it form and
depth.
When creating my artwork, I start with choosing the person or
animal I want to draw. I then either browse photography websites until I
find a reference photo I really like or I draw from my imagination. From
there I work on coming up with a composition and color scheme.
I am constantly working towards improving my craft and
furthering my skills as a fine artist. By doing this, I can improve my work
and better educate my art students.
