In this class, we will create Holes, Scarring, and Prosthetics to use on our hands, arms (and face if the student wishes to). We will be using household products as listed in the supplies section. There is no need to go purchase any costly special effects products. There is a safe (edible even) recipe for fake blood if the student doesn’t have any and a recipe for Scar Wax. The fake blood and scar wax need to be prepared prior to class, since that takes up class time. We will work together, each step, to create our skin effects. I will explain each step as we go and use multiple camera views to show the steps. Students will get messy, so they should dress appropriately for possible staining. I am a professional Face and Body Painter, and Halloween makeup is my favorite to paint. If students are interested in going further with their work, I will answer any questions they have regarding more professional products and understanding hygiene in makeup application.

*Ms. Lori (she/her)
B.F.A in Fashion Design
A.A.S in Illustration/Art History
A.A.S in Graphic Design
Hi there! I'm Lori—a Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) graduate with over 30 years of experience in the design industry. My journey spans from fashion illustration, pattern making, and garment construction to designing full storyboards for buyers. I’ve also tutored aspiring fashion designers in fashion illustration, helping them build professional portfolios for industry interviews.
While my current profession is in graphic design, fashion illustration remains my creative escape from the digital world. I believe that mastering the fundamentals of design unlocks endless possibilities, allowing you to bring your creative visions to life.
When I'm not sketching or designing, you’ll find me spending time with my furry little beasts—because animals are another passion of mine!
Ready to explore the world of fashion design and illustration? Let’s create something amazing together!

Graduate degree in Special Education
I’ve been in education for over 14 years, with 8 of those years as a special education teacher specializing in working with students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, and those with diverse learning needs. I also have a strong background in technology integration and cybersecurity.
In addition to K-12 education, I’ve taught photography, film, video, and animation at Marquette University, where I also ran the Multimedia Technology Lab for over five years. My passion for education and technology led me to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and I’m currently enrolled in an Information Technology graduate program. I’m also just 8 credits away from completing a graduate degree in Special Education.
My approach to learning is a mix of structure and flexibility—giving students the tools they need while encouraging independence, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. I enjoy incorporating technology, hands-on activities, and real-world applications to make learning meaningful and engaging.
Outside of teaching, I’m passionate about photography and travel, and I have a house full of rescue dogs who take their job as my personal “security team” very seriously. Looking forward to connecting!
