This class will give students the chance to explore multiple, basic aspects of Special Effects (SFX) Makeup- those aspects being techniques, tools, products, and finally Character Design. Each week the learner will create one look/design based off of that weeks theme- the theme will provide direction and inspiration. Along with their final look, the learner will be creating concept art- notes and drawings that show me and other classmates how they came up with their amazing design! Although...
The materials you buy will vary in price depending on where you buy them, the brand, and even the quantity. This list is a basic bare minimum- but you may purchase more or less depending on the design your learner chooses to make. If you need any recommendations or help finding certain products let me know! Face Paint: I recommend cream or water activated. Brushes: Disposable sponges, and varying sizes of brushes to help apply product. Powder: This can vary from eyeshadows, to translucent powder used to set certain looks. Liquid Latex: This is a very affordable and multi-functional product used to create cuts, wounds, or even build simple prosthetics Cotton Balls, Q-Tips, and Tissue/Toilet Paper Safety Scissors Makeup Remover Headband or Pony Tail to keep hair out of face.
No live meetings, and no time outside of class.
Products I will be using outside of face paint will be liquid latex, Pros-Aide (a type of adhesive), and I'll be handling safety scissors. The first two products will not be required, but if your learner chooses to use them please take caution to avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and hair (eyebrows and scalp). Also, when using any new product- makeup, paint, etc- test a small amount on the wrist before applying to the face. This is to make sure the child isn't allergic to anything.
