Class Experience

In this class we will work together to sew a Girl Scout Style Uniform for 18" dolls. Prior to beginning class students must already be comfortable with their sewing machine and able to sew straight lines on both stretchy and woven fabric.

Day 1: Picking your fabric - we will discuss types of fabric and what fabrics are appropriate for this project. Students will chose their own fabric so they can make their uniform look like a Girl Scout or any other uniform of their choice. Students will need to purchase (or otherwise source) the fabric for their project between day 1 and day 2.

Day 2: Cutting your pattern - will will work together to cut our pattern/fabric. We will be discussing grains, directional patterns, and intermediate level pattern markings.

Days 3-6: Sewing days - we will be doing the sewing of our items these days. Your student will need access to a sewing machine (and adult supervision as necessary) these days.

Please note that this is a leveled class. Each student is required to know how to accomplish the tasks in the previous levels before beginning classes of a higher level as I will no longer be covering those skills in higher level courses. If students need help learning a skill they have missed in a previous level class please message me and I can point you to a class where we teach that skill or set up a private lesson to make sure the skill is learned.

Parental Guidance
Students will need to have access to a working sewing machine for this class. The instructor will be using an older version of this machine: https://amzn.to/2XtCcsY Students are responsible for knowing how to turn on, and thread their spacific machine prior to beginning class. If you need help with these steps often craft store employees (who you can meet with personally) and/or youtube videos are of great assistance. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you are still struggling and we will find a way to help.

Join my classes to learn about math, English, history and many more homestead themed topics to help you complete daily tasks and possibly find a new hobby in the process.

I'm excited to meet you!
