Description

Class Experience

In this class we will work together to sew an apron and oven mits for 18" dolls.  Prior to beginning class students must already be with their sewing machine and able to sew straight lines.

Day 1: Picking your fabric - we will discuss types of fabric and what fabrics are appropriate for this project. We will also discuss bias tape and its uses. Students will need to purchase (or otherwise source) the fabric for their project between day 1 and day 2.

Day 2: Cutting your pattern - will will...

Students will learn to use bias tape.

The homework for this class varies by class.

Class 1 - source fabric
Class 2 - finish cutting if you don't finish during class
Class 3 - finish the construction of the items if you don't finish in class

Recommended Fabrics: cotton

Supplies Needed:

Apron:
-1/4 yard cotton fabric (holiday themed)
-1 pkg single-fold bias tape

Oven Mitts:
-1/4 yard cotton (contrast color)
-single-fold bias tape (used from pkg above)
-1 piece of felt (9" X 12")

Sewing Machine
Scissors

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

Students will need to have access to a working sewing machine for this class. The instructor will be using an older version of this machine: https://amzn.to/2XtCcsY 
Students are responsible for knowing how to turn on, and thread their spacific machine prior to beginning class. If you need help with these steps often craft store employees (who you can meet with personally) and/or youtube videos are of great assistance. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you are still struggling and we will find a way to help.
