Class Experience
⭐ In this one day course I will teach learners how the basics of how to sew by hand. ⭐We will go over basic skills such as: ✨thimble placement ✨how to place thread through the needle ✨how to tie a knot at the end of the thread ✨marking fabric to sew a straight line ✨sewing a straight line (by hand) ⭐ I will demonstrate each skill as many times as needed until each learner feels like they are comfortable with the skill. This class is taught in English.
Students will be able to thread a needle on their own. They will also be able to sew on a straight line holding 2 pieces of fabric together.
When I was seven years old my mom taught me how to cross-stitch. At eight years old my grandmother taught me how to sew using a sewing machine. I continue to sew to this day.

A sewing kit can be purchased at the local dollar store or Wal-Mart. If you have items around the house, then the learner will need: 1. Thread (of any color) 2. Thimble (to protect index finger) 3. Cloth (fabric to practice on) 4. Ruler 5. Marking pen, pencil, marker 6. Scissors 7. Sewing needle 8. Quilting pins 9. Tomato pin cushion (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
While no grades are given for this course, the finished product (skill) will be the informal assessment.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
