Sewing Advanced Intermediate: Josephine Dress for Girls
Class experience
In this class we will work together to sew ourselves a dress. The pattern fits sizes 3/6 months through 12 youth. Day 1: Picking your fabric - we will discuss what fabric and other requiremnts are needed for this project. We will also be measuring ourselves to figure our dress size (we will need an adult or other responsible helper for this please). Students will need to purchase (or otherwise source) the fabric for their project between day 1 and day 2. Day 2 & 3: Cutting your pattern -...
Students will learn to sew a cotton dress for themselves that includes sizing techniques, gathers, ruffles, elastic, and shirring.
Homework Offered
The homework for this class varies by day. Class 1 - source fabric Class 3 - finish cutting if you don't finish during class Class 4 - finish ironing if you don't finish in class Class 5-10 - finish the steps of construction to keep up with the class if you need to catch up1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will need to have access to a working sewing machine for this class. The instructor will be using an older version of this machine: https://amzn.to/2XtCcsY Students are responsible for knowing how to turn on, and thread their spacific machine prior to beginning class. If you need help with these steps often craft store employees (who you can meet with personally) and/or youtube videos are of great assistance. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you are still struggling and we will find a way to help. We will be using sewing machines and irons. An adult must be in the household and available during class time in case of emergencies!
