Class Experience

In this class we will work together to sew ourselves a dress. The pattern fits sizes 3/6 months through 12 youth.

Day 1: Picking your fabric - we will discuss what fabric and other requiremnts are needed for this project. We will also be measuring ourselves to figure our dress size (we will need an adult or other responsible helper for this please). Students will need to purchase (or otherwise source) the fabric for their project between day 1 and day 2.

Day 2 & 3: Cutting your pattern - will will work together to cut our pattern/fabric. We will be discussing grains and directional patterns.

Day 3 & 4: We will be ironing our pieces and folding hems in preperation for sewing.

Day 5-10: Sewing days - By the end of class your student should have a finished piece of clothing.

Please note that this is a leveled class. Each student is required to know how to accomplish the tasks in the previous levels before beginning classes of a higher level as I will no longer be covering those skills in higher level courses.

IMPORTANT: Before taking this class students should have taken the Modern Swing Dress (https://bit.ly/2OQXfVa) and Fiesta Dress (https://bit.ly/3spvdOl) courses as we will be referring to skills learned in these classes.

Parental Guidance
Students will need to have access to a working sewing machine for this class. The instructor will be using an older version of this machine: https://amzn.to/2XtCcsY Students are responsible for knowing how to turn on, and thread their spacific machine prior to beginning class. If you need help with these steps often craft store employees (who you can meet with personally) and/or youtube videos are of great assistance. Please let the instructor know prior to class if you are still struggling and we will find a way to help. We will be using sewing machines and irons. An adult must be in the household and available during class time in case of emergencies!

Hello! I'm Aubrey and I am mom to 9 crazy children ages one through fourteen. We live on a homestead in Idaho where we raise rabbits, chickens, turkeys, ducks, quail, goats, and sheep.

I have a degree in Math Education and one in Family History but I love to teach a number of subjects. I absolutely love meeting new students! My favorite thing about teaching is helping my students to learn to use the tools that I am giving them in their daily life. Join my classes to learn about math, English, history and many more homestead themed topics to help you complete daily tasks and possibly find a new hobby in the process.

I'm excited to meet you!
