Class Experience

Students will develop a basic understanding of sewing and will make a hair scrunchie.
MATERIALS NEEDED: - Fabric that can be cut into a 3” x 25” piece (a cute fun fabric that your learner is excited about) - Thread and bobbin that somewhat match fabric - 1/4”-1/2” x 10” piece of elastic - Fabric scissors - Measuring tape - Small stick, about the size of a chopstick (chopsticks are perfect. This is to get the fabric turned inside out) - 1 large safety pin - Sewing pins (at least 10) - Fabric marking pen, pencil, marker or crayon - Sewing machine (we will be going over threading the machine, but please thread and test the machine prior to class to be sure your student won’t have any problems during class) *Elastic can be bought by the yard at most craft stores for less than $1. If you can’t find this small of elastic, a thicker elastic that can be cut down will also work. Stores like Joann, Hobby Lobby, and Walmart are great places to find cute fabric. You don’t need to buy a whole yard, you can buy as small as 3 inches. You won’t need anymore than that.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
