Informal assessmentClass Experience
Our class will be taught weekly with step by step videos that are posted each Monday. Since this is a flexible schedule class, there will be NO live meetings. Our first week of the section will include brief lessons to help learners with the basics of threading a needle, tying a knot, and separating embroidery floss. If your learner already has some experience they may be able to skip some parts of the first weeks lesson. Each week I will ask students to upload videos and/or photos of their projects and comment on other students work. Learners will be expected to comment and interact on our classroom posts through photos, chat, and video. It is so much fun to make sewing a social experience! I will also provide feedback on all submitted photos and questions throughout the duration of the course and I will be available to answer questions or help with troubleshooting as needed. In addition to our class projects we will socially interact by helping other learners choose felt and embroidery floss colors. Please note that some students may need parental guidance with certain aspects during the learning process. Please always feel free to reach out to me! Week one: Hand sewing basics overview. Learn how to use the pattern, cut out felt pieces for pop-tart, and sew on sprinkles. We will learn the stitch needed to sew on the sprinkles. Week two: Learn a new stitch and sew frosting to pastry. Then learn how to stitch the back of the pop tart on and complete your first poptart. Week three: Learn how to sew the sprinkles in an ombré effect. Complete poptart number 2. Week four: Learn how to sew multi-colored sprinkles and complete pop-tart number 3.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic hand stitching, how to use a simple sewing pattern, how to assemble a sewing project. Students will complete three poptarts in this class.
