In this one time class, learn how to make your own reversible fabric headband. This is a great way to use scraps from a previous sewing project. The class will be taught using google slides for each step of the sewing process. The teacher will demonstrate each step followed by the learners completing the step. Reminders for sewing safety and tips will be given along the way. This is great for a beginner wanting to practice straight stitches and create a quick sew. Learners should be familiar with threading a machine, straight stitch, back stitch and using an iron to press.
Learning Goals
Students will sew scrap fabrics to create a reversible fabric headband. Students will demonstrate basic sewing skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, My name is Janelle K and as an educator, I think it is the most fun to help students learn in the kitchen or sew a new project. I am currently a stay at home mom after teaching as a high school Family Consumer Science Teacher for 15 years. I have experience working with young children as well, during college I worked at a childcare center. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Family Consumer Sciences Education from Ball State University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors University. As an educator, I believe that a variety of teaching methods including slides, games, demonstrations and projects help students to understand and engage in content.
My husband and I have one child, she is a toddler, and a dog. We enjoy travelling and being outside in nature at the beach or hiking. My favorite part of traveling is trying new foods! In my free time I enjoy baking, cake decorating, trying new recipes, or sewing a small project on my Great Aunt’s sewing machine from 1950.
I look forward to helping you create or bake in one of my classes!
