Have you ever seen lightening start a forest fire? Or a hurricane destroy homes and cities? Weather is something that effects us all everyday and sometimes it can be dangerous. Weather is scary and fascinating. Get ready to jump in the crazy, cool, and chaotic aspects of severe and extreme weather. We will learn the difference between climate and weather and what causes both. We will learn about some of the most extreme weather found on earth, why it happens, and safety tips about what to do...
Students will understand climate, weather patterns, and what causes weather. Students will analyze extreme weather. Students will demonstrate their understanding of safety in extreme weather conditions. Students will create hand-on experiments and projects. Students will record and graph weather daily.
I am a former elementary school teacher. I am completing my Masters of Elementary Education in May 2023. I have worked with students from kindergarten to college seniors.

Students will need the following material for in-class projects: Week 1, day 1: construction paper, markers, print data tracker provided Week 1, day 2: two 2- litter clear plastic bottles, water, food coloring, duct tape Week 2, day 1: sting, jar, pipe cleaner, blue food coloring, boiling water, borax, a pencil (or stick of some kind) Week 2, day 2: two cups, red and blue food coloring, glass bowl, cardboard, cold and hot water Week 3, day 1: 2 liter bottle, sharpie, ruler, small rocks, scissors, tape, water Week 3, day 2: clear plastic bottle, water, rubbing alcohol, clear plastic straw, clay, food coloring If you do not have or cannot obtain materials, your child is welcome to watch experiments in class!
