Description

Class Experience

Students will explore the big four: characters, atmosphere, plot and theme. As well, they will understand the whys of the play: why things are said and done, why the play exists, and so on.
I have studied and taught Shakespeare for most of my life. I will weave together things I have learned formally through my own education, as well as the things I have learned through my own interest. Shakespeare has been a delight to teach over my thirty year career as an English teacher.
After the first class is completed, students will be expected to read one act of Julius Caesar, prior to the next class, for each of the remaining 5 classes.
Students will need to have a copy of Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar," by the second class. If a hard copy is unavailable, an online copy may be used. One such site is https://www.sparknotes.com/nofear/shakespeare/juliuscaesar/
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be invited to participate, throughout each class, as well as to share one thing that they found particularly interesting.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The play contains the violence of war, revenge, murder and suicide. The play is historical fiction.
