In this one-time Preschool story time class, learners will listen to the Thanksgiving book: “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Turkey ” (based on the poem “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”). After our Welcome and Hello songs, learners will listen to a read-aloud of the book: “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Turkey” by Lucille Colandro. The story will be read aloud twice. The first time the story will be read straight through so students can get to know the story. The second time, we will pause after each section so the students can sequence the events using picture cards. (Which are on Turkey feathers and can be printed from the class page). Once the events are in correct order, we will review them one more time before closing with the Goodbye song.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am passionate about early childhood literacy and literacy has always been an integral part of my classroom. I have seven years teaching experience with preschool-aged children. I hold a Professional Educators license with endorsements in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a concentration in Reading and Language Arts. I will be doing focused story times often integrating reading with math, science, and social studies. I will also be doing “double features” which feature two books that are the same in some way: topic, author, or series. My favorite is reading a fiction and non-fiction book on the same topic. This is a fun way to introduce young readers to non-fiction. My classes are interactive with songs and games. I enjoy traveling and going to museums and plays.
