Let’s play with spelling words! In this private tutoring class, we will study a new set of words each week. During class, we will briefly talk about patterns, rules and phonograms found in the weekly list. Then students will have a chance to practice the words in a different hands-on, multi-sensory way each week. Only about 1-3 of them will be needed each week.* cookie sheet with an edge OR a 9x13 baking dish salt pudding plastic container with lid (a longer one is preferred) sandpaper whiteboard and marker (or printer papers and marker may be substituted, but a small whiteboard is a lot fun for the kids) gallon Ziplock bag shaving cream dried beans construction paper glue Q-tips washable paints paint brush 3x5 cards magazine/advertisement clippings with words (several)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
It will be important for learners to practice their spelling words as well as review phonograms and spelling rules outside of class time each week. Please see the document posted in the classroom for ideas on ways to do this.
