Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi,
Thank you for your interest in my teaching classes! I will be teaching preschool skills so your child is prepared and ready for kindergarten as well as 1:1 tutoring for children in preschool-6th grade. The lessons will be tailored around cognitive, language, fine and gross motor, and social-emotional skills. I have so many fun and engaging planned lessons and activities for my students that include preschool, pre-k, circle time fun, music/movement, social-emotional self-care, character development, book clubs, lunch bunch, brunch and books, simple snack cooking, reading and math skills, STEAM activities, and much more! My 13 years teaching experience has mostly been in the primary grades. Plus, I have 20+ years as a mom teaching my own children. My professional credentials include both a B.A. in Elementary Education Pre-K-6 grade and an M.A. in Infant-Toddler Therapeutic Special Education Birth-Grade 2 from St. Joseph's College in New York. I've taught children with all abilities in public, private, special education schools, and preschool settings. My experience with children of all ages and stages include typical developing as well as children with special needs. Prior to Covid-19, I worked for an agency as an Early Interventionist for children ages 1-3. I'm currently tutoring children that are homeschooled in-person and online. My passion for teaching children is about guiding, helping, and lifting them up to succeed with their learning. I love to integrate fun activities and lessons where children learn through their senses and enjoy themselves on their learning expedition. I enjoy working with children and their families by providing innovative ways and ideas on how to help their child achieve academic success. My philosophy of education is based upon children having diverse intelligences, gifts, and talents that shape their uniqueness as an individual and with the right combination of a great teacher and content, learning will cultivate the child into growing both academically and socially. On the personal side...I'm a wife of a retired NYC Firefighter, a mom of 2 beautiful and silly daughters, a fur mommy to 2 dogs named Basil and Stormi, and a bunny named Patches. Basil is a boy Goldendoodle and Stormi is a girl Maltipoo and they are best furry friends. Some of my interests include spending time with my family and dogs, volunteering at my daughter's school, camping in our camper, reading books for my book club, playing pickleball, going to the beach, and listening to podcasts. I look forward to teaching your child how to learn new skills and concepts in a fun way! Thank you :)
