Sensational Poetry! Spooky Halloween Edition is a fun and friendly seasonal introduction to poetry and the people that can create it (Spoiler Alert: everyone can!). This class is perfect for friends who are not yet or who are toward the beginning of their reading and writing journey. Neither skill are required to be perfect for this class. All spookiness will be age-appropriate and more silly than scary! Friends who have taken the original Sensational Poetry class or who are brand new to my...
This class is taught in English.
Friends will leave class feeling confident and capable of building their own sensory poems. Learners will be able to simply answer the following questions: *What is a poem? *Who gets to write a poem? *What are the five senses? My biggest goal is for learners to feel excited and empowered as budding poets.
No homework assigned. A printable guide for families to continue the poetry building fun at home will be included, but is fully optional.
A printable sensory poem guide will be provided to grownups for further poetry building adventures at home! Students may want to have paper and a writing instrument (pen, pencil, marker, crayon, etc.) at the ready, but the most important supply is an active imagination!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No formal assessment. I will connect with students during class and offer any support or clarification as needed.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
A story telling, poem writing, ukulele playing, puppet befriending, family history exploring, Librarian who loves daffodils and chocolate ice cream!
