This is a tutoring class in Latin designated as semiprivate (two learners). This can or build onto any of my Latin classes. The parent(s) and I will arrange for mutually convenient days and times for class meetings. Each family will access the class via a private section here on Outschool. In this highly interactive and child-centered class, the students will receive one-on-two instruction on how to speak ("classical" pronunciation) and write the ancient language of Latin. Through lively discussions, age-appropriate character options (which could include character voices, skits, puppets, or stuffed animals), vocabulary lists or flashcards (which I will provide), visuals, collaborative white board activities, optional note taking, and imitating my speaking, learners will progress according to learner readiness and interest. I will provide printable material containing vocabulary, as well as screenshots of student and class language progress. I look forward to seeing you!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Illinois Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
2 Degrees
Master's Degree in Education from National Louis University
Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University
Self-taught in Latin, I taught beginning elementary school Latin as part of my teaching career. I also created and taught a private extracurricular program in Latin and Latin roots for elementary school-ages students. I enjoy instilling self-confidence and motivation in students to learn unfamiliar material in ways that are relevant to their familiar, everyday lives. This involves a combination of discovery, discussion, and practice, with an age-appropriate sense of humor. Establishing a low-risk atmosphere and a comfortable rapport, I enjoy connecting with each individual learner, valuing the unique interests, strengths, and eager curiosity the students bring to class.
