Class Experience

Students will learn the instrument inside and out! Students will learn by directly playing. The private lesson is structured by learning new chords, tempos and this will lead us to learn new songs when we get to that level! This class will be taught in a more personal style with two students and communication will be very necessary before class starts to ensure we are on the same page as to what level the learner is on. The class structure revolves specifically on the learners needs and interests. If you are unsure of what your learners level is, you can get in touch with me about their musical experience and we can work that out together! I will have slides to visualize chords and song progressions as well as ask many questions and have conversations through out the lesson.
Additionally, experience at all is not required and this private lesson can be used to learn the instrument from the very basics if you think your learner will benefit from that smaller class experience, that sounds great to me! Any level is welcome. This class is perfect for siblings looking for private lessons, or friends who want to learn together!

Learning Goals

Students will learn basic chords, strumming and music theory. We will learn the fundamentals of the instrument and focus on exactly what the learner needs specifically in this personal lesson. More help with chord shapes? No problem? Problems with strumming patterns? I got you! The practice and persistence of learning a new instrument is a great way to learn a lot of new skills including visual and audible forms of skills. This is a semi-private lesson so I will be working closely with each learner's specific interests and needs. I will also be able to give advice on more helpful ways to PLAY OUTSIDE of class to improve dexterity, muscle memory and performance!

I grew up around music and it's even in my blood as my dad is a music teacher! I am offering this class because I saw two separate requests for this instrument and I love playing Ukulele! It is definitely easier to learn than guitar, especially for smaller hands! I have probably been playing Ukulele for at least ten years now. I have played piano for about fifteen or twenty years. And the best part is.... its fun to jam and learn the instrument! Bring songs that interest YOU.
