Learning a musical instrument is fun, fulfilling, and challenging. Through music lessons, students explore a wide variety of musical styles and sounds, and learn how to express and interpret emotions on the instrument of their choice. It's easy to learn when you are having fun! That's why we teach the fundamentals of music through the songs that students love. Week 1 - Proper playing and singing posture Week 2 - How to hold, tune, and take care of our instruments and voices Week 3 - How to read rhythms and notes on a musical staff and in tablature Week 4 - How to sight-sing and recognize solfeggi hand symbols Week 5 - How to play and sing familiar songs to warm up the hands and/or voice Week 6 - How to play major scales and arpeggios Week 7 - How to read chord charts and lyric sheets Week 8 and onward - How to play your favorite songs and have fun! In semi-private lessons, students share their learning experience with one or two other students. Some benefits of semi-private lessons include: - reduced cost for each learner - the ability to participate in group projects (such as collaborative songwriting, recording, or games) - learning from one another’s experiences and questions - being introduced to new musical tastes and perspectives
Learning Goals
We will work together to set individual goals for each student. Progress depends on the amount of practice outside of lessons that students do. I believe it is important to master one concept before moving on to another, and let the learner set the pace.
