Class Experience

Experience Necessary

This is a class for students who have taken my Intermediate Ukulele class OR for students who have been playing for 2 or more years and have the chords C, G, Am, F, Dm, G7, C7, D and Em memorized and have a solid understanding of basic rhythm and strumming.

If you are not sure if this class is suitable for your child please message me outlining their experience.

New songs in this class include: Fly Away and A Thousand Years

Classes begin with warmups and exercises which encourage the development of excellent technique. Warmups include finger isolation exercises to develop strength in the left-hand and strumming exercises to develop right-hand technique.

Techniques we will focus on are:
Barre chords
Beginner Improvisation and the pentatonic scale
Fingerpicking
Learning to play in 6/8 time
Reading Music Charts

Students will be encouraged (but not required) to perform in the 20th class.

At this level, students should practice 15 - 30 minutes daily in order to maintain everything they have learned so far and to continue building on the new skills learned in class.
Slideshows will become available to the students after class to use for practicing at home.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, I'm Siobhan! A versatile and passionate human interested in continuing to learn and grow throughout life's journey. I spent nine years living in Thailand working as a professional musician and private music teacher. For five of those years, I ran my own business, a music school, where I gained valuable experience and a versatile skill set. Just before the pandemic, I was traveling and developing new skills including cooking gourmet vegetarian food, managing a kitchen, managing social media pages, video editing as well as completing my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Course. During the pandemic, I began creating music classes that are specifically designed to be delivered online. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, reading, travel, and practicing music.
