Class Experience

***Please do not enroll your student if they have not completed a formal Spanish 1 academic class. They will be lost!!! This is a review of all the skills taught in the first level of Spanish 1. This is not a class for entertainment purposes only. It is ACADEMIC in nature and your learner is expected to engage and treat this class as such. I can promise that it will be entertaining the more each learner engages!
Due to COVID and many schools having goen through lengthy virtual instruction, your student may not be getting the intensive language instruction they really need for success at the next level. Supplementing with this course of ACADEMIC review will refresh the skills they need to be successful in Spanish 2. This is especially helpful if your learner is scheduled on a semester schedule to take Spanish 2 2nd Semester!

Week 8: Review: Overall review of all components, focusing on any weak areas students have indicated or the teacher has observed.
Week 9: Review topics the kids ask for in a previous survey.
Week 10: Review Review Review!
During this 10 week review course, all the above standards from a traditional high school Spanish 1 class are being reviewed and reinforced in preparation for students entering high school Spanish 2 in the fall. This will be appropriate review for any students who have completed a Spanish 1 credit previously. Depending on how long ago the students have taken the Spanish 1 credit, this class could be more difficult. However, the longer ago they took Spanish 1, the more vitally important a review class of this nature is for success in Spanish 2. Class time is structured with interactive “I say- you repeat” sections, students will be asked to repeat a lot in group and 1-1. Students will be asked to create sentences with the skills reviewed in between classes and submit them electronically for progress monitoring. There will be homework in the form of expected review and reinforcement of material from one week to the next. I will use virtual practice activities, virtual flash card sites, games, etc. Students are ENCOURAGED to take notes each class. The videos will be available after each class as well for review from one meeting to the next and this review is encouraged as well. I am happy to respond to any messages or questions between sessions as well. Having this material fresh in your student’s mind before they start the next level will definitely give them a leg up on the next academic level whether in home school class or standard high school.
