In this ongoing course, we will learn about specific women in American History that mirror the major eras beginning from early American colonization thru the end of the American Civil War. For each era will discuss a diversity of women.

What will be taught?  Women in American History from early colonization thru Civil War.
What topics will you cover? Women of the following eras: 13 colonies, American Revolution, 1800s, and Civil War
Week 1:  Colonial Women:  Abigail Adams, Pocahontas 
Week 2:  Colonial Women: Anne Hutchinson & Phyllis Wheatley
Week 3:  American Revolution:  Martha Washington &  Mercy Otis Warren
Week 4:  American Revolution:  Nancy "Nanyehi" Ward, Mary Hays "Molly Pitcher," and Sybil Ludington
Week 5:  1800s:  Sojourner Truth, Angelina & Sarah Grimke, & the Lowell Mills Girls
Week 6:  1800s:  Sacagawea, Dolly Madison, & Dorthea Dix
Week 7:  1800s:  Catherine Ferguson & Emilia Casanova de Villaverde
Week 8: Civil War:  Harriet Tubman, Loreta Janeta Velasquez, and Harriet Beecher-Stowe
Week 9:  Civil War:  Clara Barton, Lydia Hamilton Smith, Mary Surratt, 
Week 10:  Civil War:  Mary Todd Lincoln & Elizabeth Keckley
What's your teaching style?  I encourage inquisition and curiosity with my students by engaging with them using relevant material, modern-day references, and content delivery that is age-appropriate.
How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)?  Students will interact with me through all of the forms:  lecture, slides, and discussion--all engaging and novel for students to keep them interested.
Any required experience or knowledge learners need?  No, this will be treated as a beginner course.
