Welcome to this crash course in the 3 core styles of creative writing: Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry! This class is designed to give learners an introduction to each of these styles, helping them to determine what form speaks to them as artists. This course is broken into two types of classes: ✦ Instruction, Discussion, & Exercises ✧ Workshopping & Peer Critique Learners will be guided through the curriculum with a mixture of fun prompts, intriguing themes, and fostered creativity....
Students will complete 4 creative writing assignments over the course of the semester. Each writer’s process varies, but learners can expect to put in 1-2 hours for each assignment.
Learners are required to have a designated writing notebook for this class. This could be a standard spiral bound notebook, a moleskin, a composition book, etc. The following works are 𝙤𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 outside reading for students based on class themes. These will not be explicitly taught, but are intended to introduce writers to true masters of the craft.
