Want to be creative while learning and practicing Spanish conversations? Come color, chill, and chat en Español for the fall semester! This class encourages meaningful Spanish practice through: - Small class sizes that allow each student to get lots of speaking opportunities - An engaging coloring worksheet each class that learners begin in class and can continue to color at home - Weekly Boom cards - digital "cards" that are self-checking for students to continue practicing after class throughout the week! Repetition is key for language retention and these cards provide additional engagement with the vocabulary and question and answer set from each class. First, we'll practice repeating the new words with a PPT presentation, practice correct pronunciation, and act out the words using TPR (total physical response). Then, we'll begin the matching and coloring page together in class. While students are coloring, I'll ask each learner a variety of questions and encourage grammatically correct answers in full sentences. They will be able to finish their coloring page at home and post it to the discussion board. PRIOR SPANISH KNOWLEDGE: While this course is most ideal for learners who have some prior Spanish exposure, such as how to say the numbers 1-10 and some colors, it can still work well for students with no Spanish experience who have a strong desire to learn Spanish! ----------------------------- Class Schedule: Week 1: 'What's your name?', 'My name is _______.', 'How are you?', 'I'm _____.' with feelings vocabulary Week 2: 'What's the weather?', 'The weather is _______.' with weather vocabulary Week 3: 'What's your favorite color?' with color vocabulary Week 4: Review, extend, and practice numbers 1-10 Week 5: 'How old are you?', 'I'm ____ years old.', 'How old is he/she?', 'He/she is _____ years old.' Week 6: 'When's your birthday?', 'My birthday is _________.', 'His/her birthday is ______.' Week 7: 'What do you like/don't like?', 'I do/don't like ________.' Week 8: Review, extend, and practice numbers 11-20 Week 9: 'What day is it?', 'It is/isn't ________.' with days of the week Week 10: 'What pet do you have/want?', 'I have/want a _______.' with pets vocabulary Week 11: Review, extend, and "All About Me" Spanish paragraph/Q&A practice Week 12: "All About Me" paragraph presentation and celebration Learners will practice asking questions in Spanish related to the new vocabulary to get conversational practice. The amount of content we cover will depend on the number of students, overall student comprehension, etc., but I always encourage a lot of verbal output from each student. ----------------------------- This class is not a full immersion Spanish class and there will be some English used in class as needed. I aim to provide an ample amount of Spanish input and output while still helping students of various levels follow along. NOTE: Depending on the number of students, any background sounds, etc. I will either keep students unmuted or muted throughout the class.
