Description
Class Experience
Students will improve their sense of self by being able to identify their own emotions and practice calming themselves down and coping with those big feelings. Students will learn what natural consequences there are for behaviors.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and am a licensed teacher. In my program, I took courses in Behavior Management that focused on intrinsically motivating students, treating the problem rather than the symptom, and creating a community where students feel safe to share their feelings. I have student taught in pre-k and 3rd-grade classrooms where I was able to practice implementing social-emotional strategies. I am currently a 1st-grade teacher implementing a full social-emotional curriculum on a daily basis in my classroom to teach coping skills, consequences, and emotional regulation.
I suggest practicing the skills learned for the week.
*Printing may be required* If printing is required that week I will send a reminder a week in advance and then a second reminder the day before. Paper and writing and drawing utensils. We will sometimes write about what we learn and draw pictures to help.
1 hour 10 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
